Yahoo! Social Network

Yes, another social network, can you believe it. Yahoo! has decided to call it mash. The reasoning for creating this social network according to Yahoo! News is to create more advertising opportunities.  Ari Balogh – Yahoo’s chief technology officer said that Yahoo! was going to rewrite the entire experience at Yahoo to make it social in every dimension.

It has been said that users will be able to add application rather known as widgets to their Yahoo pages. This is no different from Facebook or other larger social network providers. Yahoo hopes to make money from the social networking craze, and is attempting to make it easier for its user’s to connect with friends and family.

The timing for this change to Yahoo has not yet been determined , but according to Balogh, it will be before the end of the year. They suggest that if Yahoo is taken over by the Microsoft Corp, this project could be derailed.

Well, for now we will have to wait and see what happens!

  1. oh no… not another social network. it looks as tho they are running out of names for these things. hahaha.

how many do we have now??? i dunno, but far too many. hahaha. And they all promise the same things and are all looking to do the same things.

Maybe this Yahoo! thingy will be better than facebook but i dont really like the layouts of yahoo! apps anyway.
